Here at Diva Tails Jewellery I hand make everything, which is why things take a little longer and also why I can 100% say your horse hair jewellery is unique, each one is different! I also take on custom requests which are different to our usual listed designs and I thought I would share two recent ones.
Daisy Pendant for Rhiannon
This was a cool necklace to do as I have taught the customer and Daisy the horse in the past. Rhiannon wanted something to honor her dressage mare who was taking things slower after an injury. Making a silver daisy flower and encasing the hair in the centre was the brief. So I set about making the flower shape, I went for realistic two layer flower design rather than the cartoon daisy type. This was textured to give it a more white appearance than bright silver. The hair as woven into a button and set in a 9ct gold centre under watch glass rather than resin (like some other makers choose to use) The effect was simply beautiful and Rhiannon was over joyed (so much so I have another necklace to make for her)
Horseshoe and V for Karina
I have had many requests for a horseshoe pendant, but just never really got around to making one. So when Karina got in touch for a custom piece, it finally came to fortition. The shape is made freehand using sterling silver wire and soldered onto a backing sheet. The vi was hand drawn and cut then set with a tiny Topaz stone. The hair flat braided and inlayed was the last part. It is so affective with the chain running all the way through the two elements.
These are just two recent examples of custom work, I can also melt down old gold jewellery to turn into your bespoke memorial jewellery. Each job is exciting, different and hugely personal to both you the client and myself designing a making such special pieces.
